Hingham Jewelers is pleased to offer jewelry appraisals while you wait on designated days. Appraisals for pieces which were not purchased at our store are done by an independent Graduate Gemologist.
As he appraises your items, you are invited to sit with him, watch the process, and ask any questions you may have. The final appraisal will include pictures, measurements and grades of any gem stones, along with detailed information about the mounting and metals used in the piece.
It is important to know that appointments with the appraiser must be made in advance, so please call us to schedule an appointment.

Amethyst, the gemstone believed by ancient Greeks and Romans to ward off the intoxicating powers of Bacchus, also is said to keep the wearer clear-headed and quick-witted. Throughout history, the gemstone has been associated with many myths, legends, religions, and numerous cultures. English regalia were even decorated with amethysts during the Middle Ages to symbolize royalty.
