🇧🇪 Welcome to Belgium! I spent much of this week in Antwerp, widely regarded as the diamond center of the world. The main purpose of my visit was to understand how government and industry here is actively verifying that each diamond coming into the United States, and other G7 countries like Canada and the European Union, are not being sourced from Russia. Russia is a major diamond producing country, but faces serious sanctions due to the War in Ukraine. I was granted rare, behind the scenes access to highly guarded import and export facilities to see the verification in person. Of course I also visited with others in the trade, involved in transforming diamonds from what essentially look like rocks, into the beautiful gems we present to you in our showroom. While many folks don’t ask where the gems we sell are from, some do. And for those of you interested, it’s really important for me to be able to answer thoughtfully. That’s why I love trips like this. We’ll be sharing more content from my time in Belgium in the coming days. Thanks for your continued support, and trust! -Michael 3rd Generation
