When couples come in to shop for engagement rings or wedding bands, they often ask what they "should" do, according to tradition.
Our answer: tradition doesn't work for everyone, get a ring you love.
And sometimes that means creating a truly one-of-a-kind style.
This summer a client set up an appointment with a member of our design team. He knew he wanted a unique engagement ring for his girlfriend.
He was looking for a teal sapphire, with a very specific color, and he wanted it in a mounting that he designed himself.
In fact, he came armed with sketches he had drawn of the ring he wanted to propose with. It featured a teal sapphire in the center, with a round diamond set on each side, at a diagonal.
To accent the primary stones, small diamonds were set in a twist style along the band portion of the ring.
Our design specialist went to work, ready to turn this dream ring into a reality.
We first took his sketches and created computer renderings of what the ring would look like. While the drawings were a great start, our experts suggested some slight modifications to create the appropriate stone proportions, and allow for the most sparkle.
At the same time we sourced a variety of teal sapphires for the client to view in person. The stones were from Madagascar, and covered a range of hues.
Once the customer selected a stone that matched his needs, and the ring design was finalized, we put it all together to create exactly what he wanted.
The process, from start to finish, took roughly a month, but now the couple has a ring that is 100% unique to them, down to every last detail.
