A customer recently came in to our store with a stunning heirloom piece that had been passed down through her family.
The solid gold necklace features a rope style finish with an ornate drop accented by pearl tassels.
She loved the look of the piece, but wanted to wear it longer for her son’s upcoming wedding. She also wanted a pair of matching earrings.
Our design specialists went to work, first sourcing a solid chain with the same finish.
We also steam cleaned the original necklace to minimize any color difference between the decades old gold on the original necklace, and the new segment we’d be adding.
Our expert Goldsmith then masterfully added chain to each side of the clasp, achieving the length the customer desired.
At the same time another Goldsmith was busy creating the custom pair of earrings.
Based on sketches from our design specialist, he matched the look of the earrings to the original necklace. That involved matching the rope finish, and the pearl drops.
The end results were both gorgeous.
The original necklace was restored and re-worked without losing any of its original beauty, and the new earrings completed the look.
If you have jewelry that’s been passed down for generations, that may be in need of some re-design, make an appointment with a member of our design team to brainstorm potential improvements.
