It’s become increasingly important in recent years to understand where things come from—our food, our clothes, and even our jewelry. It’s an effort to ensure our actions are responsible.
Being as transparent as possible about where our jewelry comes from is extremely important to us at Hingham Jewelers. After all, jewelry is such a special part of our lives. It marks moments full of love—like weddings, the birth of a child, birthdays, or anniversaries. You deserve to know where those meaningful pieces come from.
Many of the custom designed pieces we create are made right here on the South Shore by our team of expert Goldsmiths. Not all of the jewelry you’ll see in our showcase can be made by our team, however. Those pieces come from partners around the world.
We look for partners that match our company vision. We want to work with those companies that, like us, offer exceptional customer service, while also valuing its team and community.
One of the partners we work with is located in Louisiana. There they staff a 1,500 person jewelry factory that offers us access to everything from tiny parts we need to complete repairs, to wedding bands, to loose gemstones in many sizes and colors. This month I spent time touring the facility—seeing the manufacturing process in person.
It was also a chance to see the intense screening of diamonds that takes place there, ensuring natural diamonds and lab grown diamonds are properly identified before they make it to us. Additionally, it provided an opportunity to better understand how our partners are continuing to improve sustainability—recycling metals, or sourcing new metals as responsibly at possible.
