Jewelry is an incredibly sentimental part of life. We purchase jewelry for ourselves to celebrate major milestones, and we’re gifted jewels by those who love us.
Each piece carries a memory, so it can be hard to part with pieces, even after they’ve fallen out of style.
The good news is that all of these old pieces can be redesigned, holding on to each special memory.
This fall, a client came into our store on her anniversary. Over the years she has been collecting jewelry that she no longer wears, but didn’t want to part with.
Look at this pile of jewelry—it includes everything from bracelets to rings to chains.
She wanted to use all of this ‘scrap’ gold to create a new piece that she could wear on a beautiful omega chain that’s a staple in her wardrobe.
The existing pendant on the omega chain featured a pear shape diamond, but the client wanted something that made more of statement.
While she was in our store, she saw two pendants that she loved. Our design specialist worked with her to figure out which elements of each she most liked, then sketched out a design for a new pendant, incorporating the pear she diamond on her existing pendant.
Once the exact measurements were settled, our Goldsmith took the design and went to work.
He melted all of her old gold, full of memories, and created the new pendant which is stunning.
It features a bold circular design, with the bezel set pear shape dangling in between to capture the light.
The bail is large enough so the pendant can slip right into her omega chain.
This is a terrific example of how you can ‘recycle’ your old jewelry to get an entirely new piece made from what you already have.
