Over the years, it's normal to find your style and tastes changing.
That often means you accumulate jewelry you no longer wear. Many of those pieces likely hold sentimental attachment, or still have value, so it's hard to part with them.
We find that turning those pieces into something new is the perfect solution!
In this case, a long time client came to us with her engagement ring. It's a beautiful solitaire diamond set in yellow gold with 6-prongs.
She wanted a new ring, with more of a 'wow' factor. She also told us that she had a pair of diamond studs she no longer wore because of her hair style. Fortunately, the color and clarity of those diamond studs were similar to her original ring.
Our design team went to work, developing a plan to create a three-stone ring. The larger diamond would go in the middle, flanked by the diamonds from the studs.
Then, for added dazzle, we decided to set a series of small diamonds half-way down each side of the ring.
Like the original ring, the client wanted yellow gold, with the exception of the prongs, as to not interfere with the diamonds.
The client was able to see computer renderings of the proposed design before the ring was actually created, to ensure she liked the look and feel of the style.
With her approval, the casting process began, and in a few weeks the mounting was ready. The client dropped off her original ring, and our Goldsmith safely moved the diamonds from the ring and studs into the new mounting.
The end result was breathtaking! It adds so much to the look of the ring, and better yet, it used her own stones that were just sitting in a jewelry box. That is a tremendous monetary savings, and preserves the sentimental value of the studs in their new life.
