3 Custom Pieces Made from Family Jewelry

January marks the start of a new year, and the chance to start fresh.

We see so many people ready to clean up their jewelry box this time of year, whether it's completing repairs or custom designing new pieces.

Take a look at these three custom projects we just finished for one of our clients using pieces she received from her family:

A New Bezel

Our client had a ring that was given to her by her grandmother. She had already used a few of the diamonds in the ring for another project we completed, but she still had the center diamond available.

Our Goldsmith unset the stone, then re-set it into a new yellow gold necklace. The bezel style is such a classic look, and will allow her to wear this treasured family heirloom regularly.

A New Bracelet

She also had a bracelet handed down through the family. It was rather bulky, with channel set round diamonds in one section of the piece.

She liked the idea of a bracelet with a diamond station, but she wanted a more modern and delicate look.

We used an 18k paperclip style bracelet from Roberto Coin for the majority of the new piece. Then our Goldsmith handmade a new section to house her diamonds. The stones are now prong set, showing off less metal which lets the diamonds sparkle!

A Ring Becomes a Bracelet

The final project we worked on was a true transformation.

Our client had a ring with her initials, JJ, which was given to her by her grandfather. Her brother has a matching ring.

She wanted to preserve the initials, but wanted to move them into a bracelet. We used yet another "extra" bracelet she had in her jewelry box to make it happen.

Our Goldsmith carefully removed the JJ from the ring, and attached it to that extra gold link style bracelet!
